First look at Peter Do x Banana Republic

Update on Peter Do x Banana Republic.

The collab got a soft launch on the Peter Do Paris runway (above and below) last week and it’s looking pretty good.

There are 28 pieces, of which this trench looks like a best-seller, along with the patch pocket silk shirt and camel trouser suit. The pleated coat dress-y number looks like the showstopper, while the pleated skirt-and-trouser layered ensemble has its own post-punk appeal.

Alas, we won’t get this is the UK or Europe when it drops on October 10th but if you’re in the U.S, Canada or Japan, mark your iCals. See more here.

AW23 is emphatically female-focussed, kicking off with supermodel mania – that Vogue cover, the Apple series and a Linda Evangelista book – and continuing with a slew of women-championing exhibitions. We’ve also got the big Phoebe Philo reveal to come, as well as a focus on revivalist classic fashion (aka gentlewoman style). For this you can easily shop your closet, or consider buying pre-loved – the quality may be better and so may the price. “The connection between instability in the economy and consumers’ desire for classic, quality pieces that retain value is certainly at play, as is the cultural zeitgeist,” Kelly McSweeney, senior merchandising manager at The RealReal, told WWD. Helmut Lang hires Peter Do

News just in: Peter Do is the new creative director at Helmut Lang.

I can’t say I’ve paid a ton of attention to Helmut Lang recently. Apart from that time they reissued a load of classics it’s not particularly on my radar.
