Yet it seems to be arriving right on time, as a counterweight and companion to the loud, whimsical design associated with Gen Z and the name brand-heavy “California rich” look the Kardashians made inescapable.”

Boom – Rebecca Jennings from Vox just nailed my current penchant for what TikTokkers have dubbed Old Money Aesthetic. (#OldMoneyAesthetic.) That is, olde worlde Wasp cashmeres, hand-me-down Hermès (like, a custom shooting bag, not a ‘notice me’ new money Birkin), somebody’s grandfather’s Rolex Explorer (found on 1stdibs) – you get the idea. Sofie D’Hoore is a new name on my radar which I discovered in Fenwick this week. It’s one of those stealth luxury lines, in the same vein as A.P.C, Studio Nicholson, Celine and Margaret Howell. I really like the understated styling. And the coats. Which I tried on (all of them) and they were perfect. (more…)

Loewe has done a lovely job of highlighting three of this year’s biggest macro trends – craft, heritage and luxury – in this short film by Matthew Donaldson for Nowness (ah ‘fashion film’, there’s another tick). Using Richard Avedon’s In The American West as a visual reference (oh to have a copy of this collectable tome), it’s a celebration of the leather workers’ graft and craft in creating the signature Amazona bag.
