Ugh, so much change in e-commerce lately! The Chapmans are stepping aside at MatchesFashion, ditto Nick Robertson at Asos, and bombshell of the week was Natalie Massenet resigning from Net-a-Porter. (more…)

THE DRG STYLE INDEX: SIMONE ROCHA, PATEK PHILIPPE, PALLAS, INES DE LA FRESSANGE

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. SIMONE ROCHA TO MOUNT STREET

Simone Rocha store to open in Mount Street

I’m gobsmacked at all the independent British designers opening stores on Mount Street and nearby. I can’t help asking myself where all the funds are coming from? Simone Rocha is the latest, due to open her first store during London Fashion Week. The store, which joins Christopher Kane, Roksanda and Nicholas Kirkwood on one of the grandest shopping streets in London, will have a personal, creative look to reflect the romantic Rocha sensibility. Introducing the DRG STYLE INDEX: Celine, Hermes, Harrods, Uniqlo

Introducing the DRG STYLE INDEX, a ranking of the brands on my radar each week. In order of impact, these are the brands grabbing my attention right now…

1. CELINE’S RETAIL WOW FACTOR

Celine-store-mount-street-telegraph

My first foray into the Mount Street store (above). Um, wow. The smell! The flooring! The merch! The ratio of sales staff to customer (3-1 on my visit)! Press preview: Chanel Little Black Jacket by Karl Lagerfeld

Just sharing my favourite photos from Karl Lagerfeld’s Little Black Jacket exhibition, which opened at the Saatchi Gallery today (I went to the preview yesterday). I really didn’t have high hopes for this so I was shocked at how much I loved it. The casting is wonderful, as is Carine Roitfeld’s styling. Karl has truly managed to capture the style and personality of each of his sitters. And the gigantic prints (by Steidl) are nicely displayed, gently pinned to the wall. The exhibition is huge and you can even take away a free poster with you. So much nicer than flooding the shop with tacky merch, no?

The exhibition is on from now until 28th October and you can buy the accompanying book there too (it’s a lot cheaper than in the shops).

*SPOILER ALERT* Don’t look down if you don’t want to see (top to bottom) Ines de La Fressange, Frankie Rayder, Jane Birkin, Lauren Hutton, Linda Evangelista, Sojourner Morrell, Alexa Chung, Sofia Coppola, Sing Hye-Kyo, Kirsten Owen and Lily Donaldson… (more…)
