THE DRG STYLE INDEX: NET-A-PORTER, CHARVET, THE OUTNET, BIRCHBOX, UNIQLO
Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…
1. ALL CHANGE AT NET-A-PORTER
Ugh, so much change in e-commerce lately! The Chapmans are stepping aside at MatchesFashion, ditto Nick Robertson at Asos, and bombshell of the week was Natalie Massenet resigning from Net-a-Porter. The drama! What will change at NAP? No-one knows yet. And what will NatMass do next? Rumours suggest a gig at Vogue or Style.com but I just can’t see that as a likely proposition…
2. INSIDE CHARVET
I enjoyed this ode to the Charvet shirt in the New York Times. I doubt I’ll be buying one of their made to measure shirts anytime soon but one can dream. Read more here…
3. OUTNET BEAUTY? YES PLEASE
While Net-a-Porter owned the news this week, The Outnet had an announcement too. It’s testing the beauty market with a campaign next month selling beauty boxes with product from brands including By Terry, This Works, Lipstick Queen and Erno Laszlo. Put 25th October in your diary.
4. BUILD YOUR OWN BIRCHBOX
In other beauty box news, I’m liking this bespoke beauty box concept. Selfridges and Birchbox have teamed up to open a one month pop up, selling build-your-own beauty boxes. Choose 5 mini products from brands including Sarah Chapman, Stila and Elemis to include in your own personal £15 box. And if you can’t make it to the Oxford street store (head to the beauty workshop), there’s an online pop-up opening at Selfridges.com on 10th September.
5. UNIQLO X INES DE LA FRESSANGE
Uniqlo is nailing it with its Francophile collaborations. We’ll have to wait a little longer for Lemaire, but this week saw the latest drop from Ines de la Fressange for Uniqlo. It’s all available online, or with click & collect. Or in London from the Kensington High Street, Regent Street and 170 Oxford Street stores. Your perfect grey sweatshirt awaits…
