I’m all for pyjama dressing, but how to make sure your piped Dolce & Gabbana pjs and brocade Gucci slippers don’t look like you just tumbled out of bed? Easy. First make sure you go for a thicker, luxer class of PJ, so look at Dolce, Marni, Dries van Noten and Gucci. You can try wearing actual pyjamas for day wear, but let’s be honest, this requires a certain nonchalance to pull off. (more…)

My, what a week for Dior! The Cruise 2017 show was a mammoth feat of production (yes, I did follow the entire shebang via various influencers’ Snapchats), there’s a possible new designer announcement imminent (hint: Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri – hope it’s true) and the four-floor Bond Street maison finally opened its doors. As fashion and its industry become more fashionable than ever, it’s unsurprising that people want to know more about it. There’s a real thirst for expertise, insight, insider stories and an understanding of the inner workings of it all. And of course, to be part of it.
Enter the rise of what I call the masterclass economy, an uptick in conferences, workshops, panel debates and hands-on masterclasses that let you get stuck in. Apple’s new store in San Francisco is a good example, with a dedication to knowledge workshops that embrace and encourage creative entrepreneurship. And of course, London’s Vogue Festival is one of the pioneers in recent years of the more glamorous type of symposium. (more…)
