You know a heritage brand is on the up again when fans start to clamour for its vintage numbers. It happened with Gucci, it’s probably happening with Coach and I imagine it will happen with DKNY.

When a classic brand goes through a downturn and then an upswing, it creates a new swell of interest around it. So with Gucci, suddenly all the buzz around Alessandro Michele had people scouring their lofts and closets for long-neglected snaffle loafers and printed scarves. Online consignment site Vestiaire Collective already did a brisk business in selling pre-loved Gucci, but the renewed interest has brought a whole new rush of customers on the hunt for pre-Michele Gucci (more…)



New in for spring



New spring trends ss16

Yes, I’m still wearing tights under my jeans. Yes I’m still bundled under a suuuuuper-sized cashmere stole (thanks Johnstons of Elgin). Yes, my fingers are still encased in The North Face extreme weather gloves. But! Blossom has been spotted on the trees of West London and it’s still daylight at 5.30pm. So that surely necessitates an evaluation of the new-in spring offerings, no?

On my radar at this time of year are shouty knits for layering, such as this colourful crew neck from Jil Sander or the crafty applique number by Christopher Kane. (more…)

Last week, Gap added a coffee-cum-record-shop (a collaboration with East London’s Lion Coffee + Records) to its Oxford Street store in a move to entice a younger, cooler customer. Will it work? Gucci goals: what to steal from Gucci AW16 menswear

Haters gonna hate but I’m still loving Alessandro Michele’s Gucci.

There are some strong signatures coming through – the glamorous glasses, pyjama piping, ultra-fine suiting and semi-flared trousers, plus of course the gobstopper rings and reimagined loafers of every permutation. And for AW16 I love the high-crowned hats and leather bombers. (more…)
