THE DRG STYLE INDEX: WANDA NYLON, GUCCI, BALENCIAGA, VETEMENTS

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. WANDA NYLON WINS ANDAM

Wanda Nylon wins ANDAM prize
Major props to designer Johanna Senyk whose Wanda Nylon label just won the ANDAM fashion prize. This label has been a slow, steady burner but it’s one I like a lot. It excels in slightly fetishy rainwear, but it’s expanding to become much more than that. Expect to be hearing a lot more about it soon, but in the meantime check it out here.

2. GUCCI DREAMS

Gucci aw16 campaign
What we need right now: dreamy escapism via the new Gucci AW16 ad campaign. Shot by Glen Luchford again, this time it stars Petra Collins zhuzhing about Tokyo in a cacophony of colour and pattern, ending up in a pachinko arcade. Watch the video here.

3. BALENCIAGA REALNESS balenciaga aw16 campaign
Oh wait, maybe not. Maybe we need Balenciaga realness, courtesy of Mark Borthwick’s just-released AW16 print campaign. It’s the antithesis to Alexander Wang’s OTT modeliser campaigns and totally makes me want to don a puffer and ski pants to the anti Brexit march later…

4. VETEMENTS COLLABORATES WITH… EVERYONE

vetements collaborations aw17
Meanwhile, over at Vetements, something quite clever but bonkers is going on. Demna Gvasalia has decided to collaborate with eighteen best-in-their-field brands all in the same collection. With brands including Levi’s, Hanes and Church’s, scattered all over the world, the words ‘production’ and ‘nightmare’ come to mind. Read his reasoning here.
