The DRG Antwerp shopping guide

T Koetshuish Antweerp vintage store

I had a very naughty start to the year, choosing to bunk off LCM and go on holiday instead. Tsk indeed! I definitely recommend it though. We picked Antwerp for our city break, our flight was half empty and the three days dawdled by at a pleasantly snail-like pace. We went with no great plans other than to mooch around flea markets, eat moules and just enjoy some we-time. OK, we didn’t have much luck on the flea market front but I did discover a wealth of brocante vendors, vintage boutiques and fancy goods emporia to satisfy my shopaholic tendencies. Here then, is my DRG shopping guide to Antwerp…

DE KLOOSTERSTRAAT
I advise catching the early Friday flight from City airport so you arrive with a whole day stretched out ahead. Taxis are a bit of a faff in Antwerp so we decided to do everything on foot, taking the scenic route from our posh B&B (the beautiful BOULEVARD LEOPOLD, separate post coming soon) in the Jewish quarter. THE DRG STYLE INDEX: WOOD WOOD X DISNEY, A.P.C, LIBERTY, SHANG XIA, NIKE

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

Gentlewoman style: Sofie D’hoore AW14

1 Sofie-Dhoore-aw14 1

Sofie D’Hoore is a new name on my radar which I discovered in Fenwick this week. It’s one of those stealth luxury lines, in the same vein as A.P.C, Studio Nicholson, Celine and Margaret Howell. I really like the understated styling. And the coats. Which I tried on (all of them) and they were perfect. (more…)

Today’s the day – the Mr Porter sale is here!

Mr-Porter

The Mr Porter international sale went live today – at last! The US sale started a few days ago but I’ve had a look and there are still some crumbs left for the rest of us.

As usual, I’ve hunted out the pieces that I think work for both guys and girls, so here’s my edit of what we can steal. Personally, I’m all about the Raf Simons knit and the LVC pocket tee. A classic cotton pocket tee is stupidly hard to come by these days so I stockpile these when I see them…
