Jean Touitou

Quote of the day: Jean Touitou on Agnès b

Agnes b Snap cardigan

“I was playing my electric guitar in [Agnès b’s] studio above the store one evening. I remember seeing her come back from dinner, put a black round-neck sweatshirt on a desk, grab a pair of scissors and cut the piece right down the middle. Then, she took snap buttons and put them on the front. It became a worldwide hit.”
A.P.C’s Jean Touitou on the birth of the Agnès b snap cardigan in 1979, New York Times

I enjoyed Mark O’Flaherty’s recent NYT profile of Agnès b (gift link) and her snap cardigan. Just when you think you know everything you need to know about a brand, there’s more..! P.S. don’t miss the comments on the NYT article – lovely reminiscences of favourites Agnès b pieces and experiences.

A.P.C’s Judith Touitou, F.T (paywall)

This week sees the release of Suzanne Koller x A.P.C, a capsule collection of the kind of specificity that’s sure to fly with hardcore A.P.C loyalists. Think a tan wool-cashmere poncho, chunky grey sweater, navy wool-flannel evening djellaba. (more…)

Balenciaga Shaping Fashion exhibition at V&A

London is enjoying a golden age of art and fashion exhibitions. You could easily do nothing else all day but soak up one multi-sensorial orgy after another. I made Hockney at Tate Britain by the skin of my teeth and I’m currently gearing up for Matisse in the Studio (more…)

30 years of A.P.C.

A.P.C. AW17

This year is the 30th anniversary of A.P.C and if there’s a more timeless ‘fashion’ brand around, I’d like to see it. I’ve been wearing the coats, jeans, shirts and boots the whole time, I think the only things I haven’t bought are dresses and skirts. Last week I tried on a cute little bucket hat that I’m still dreaming about. (more…)
