Here’s our latest monthly retail round-up celebrating experimentalism and innovation on the high street. From re-sale to re-make, this month our news feed is buzzing about the latest sustainability campaigns from high street players, while influencer-commerce is entering a new democratic phase.

COS RE-MAKES SWEATSHIRTS
COS is the latest H&M brand to launch a dedicated circular-fashion collection as part of its goal to be using 100% sustainably-sourced materials by 2030. The Repurposed Cotton Project (above) is a capsule line of sweatshirts for men, women and kids, made using cotton scraps left over from the brand’s main production process. All the hallmarks were present and correct for SS19; a youth culture theme (this time the sweet spot between punk and new wave), inspiration-appropriate music (Bela Lugosi is Dead by Bauhaus) and intriguing clothes that made you want to pinch to zoom. As debuts go, the Virgil Abloh Louis Vuitton SS19 show got all of the buzz and all of the love. The show sounds like a total emosh-fest, with Virgil and Kanye openly bawling all over each other at the finale. I wasn’t there but I saw it on the ‘Gram, which these days practically amounts to the same thing.

My verdict? It would have benefited with a much tighter edit. (more…)
