Dan Witz Moshpits, Raves and One Small Orgy

So did you spend the last few days fretting about the new Instagram algorithms? Ahhhh, me too. But it’s important, right? How can we make serendipitous discoveries when Instagram insists on controlling what we see? Example: the picture above, a detail from one of Dan Witz’s paintings, which I just stumbled upon on Instagram yesterday (thank you @ByronesqueVintage). Every year Mr DRG and I talk about going to St Ives and I’ve still never been. Oh well, this summer St Ives (kind of) comes to us with Tate Britain’s new exhibition, Barbara Hepworth: Sculpture for a Modern World. To accompany it, there’s a lovely Hepworth-inspired capsule collection from Margaret Howell, including a smock, work shirt, dungarees and silk scarves. Buy them here. (more…)

Big news for photography buffs and collectors; Somerset House is hosting London’s first international photography fair, Photo London. It’s like Frieze for photography, or so I’m reliably informed, and will include up to 70 of the world’s biggest photography galleries, as well as exhibitions and an impressive programme of talks (speakers confirmed include Steve McCurry, Stephen Shore and Mitch Epstein).
