I could write a thesis-length post on Raf Simons and Sterling Ruby’s epic joint AW14 collection, but I won’t. Instead I recommend you read all about in Tim Blanks’ Style.com report. Or just enjoy the pictures. Suffice to say, the conceptual art student is alive and kicking on the catwalk and if you love collage, Pollock-meets-Clash paint splatters, Lichtenstein primary colours and provocative wordplay, then it’s all here for ya, wrapped up in dun-coloured cashmere and nubby tweed. Trainer news: Tom Ford, Adidas Stan Smiths, Nike RT, retail wars

We’re not even two weeks in and it’s already shaping up to be another good year for sneaker heads.

First, the surprise appearance of trainers (in thrice waxed leather or white velvet!) at Tom Ford’s AW14 menswear presentation. In fact the whole Tom Ford collection was casualised (below), so posh trainers aren’t too out of place…

London Underground produces some top fashion merch

Andrew Bunney has done the seemingly impossible. That is, take a corporate, uncool brand, (albeit with a killer heritage) and turn out a highly desirable line of product. The result is Roundel, a collaboration with the London Underground, that presents T-shirts, jackets, shirts and even trainers as graphic product that will be as at home on the backs of tourists and cityproud Londoners as design-conscious youth. Is the Isabel Marant for H&M collab likely to be the most popular yet? It’s possible. I’ve seen the goods up close and they’ve done a great job of including the Marant signatures – from mannish coats to second-skin leather cigarette pants, to simple stiletto pumps. (more…)
