Coach ss26 neck purses backstage

New York Fashion Week: Not a huge amount to write home about, but a few details captured my attention…

Coach has hit its stride in recent seasons and I’m pleased for Stuart Vevers. He’s a nice guy and I think people conveniently forget that he elevated Loewe in the fashion space before Jonathan Anderson arrived. Anyway, at Coach SS26 (above and below) I liked the neck doodads – cute little pouches and pendants meant to symbolise sentimentality and New York mementos. Styled in combination with dishevelled, oversized silhouettes by appropriately youth-obsessed Olivier Rizzo, they should help attract the next generation of Coach handbag-toting customers. (more…)

Compared to photographers, the best in the biz are still fairly elusive on Instagram (where are you, Joe McKenna?!) but once you locate them, they’re worth checking in with. They tend to repeat their tricks across the brands and publications they work for, so it’s easy to see all their ideas and influences in one place. (more…)

GRWM: Foundation update and ten minute make-up

Bobbi Brown’s Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation is the best new foundation I’ve tried this year. It’s good coverage, not matte and not glowy, but just right, giving a real skin finish that doesn’t cake or flake by the end of the day. I love that it’s lavender scented which has an instantly calming effect on my brain – handy when I’m running late in the morning. (more…)

Smell the roses

A good way to get into spring mode, even if it’s still coat whether outside, is scent. Specifically rose, which these days manages to be both fresh and outdoorsy yet calm and comforting. Diptyque’s Eau Rose (£65, below) is a non-cloying everyday eau de toilette that smells very ‘full’ on first spritz but quickly dissipates into something gentler and greener.
