The Yves Saint Laurent Museum in avenue Marceau is fast becoming an essential part of the Paris Fashion Week itinerary. To coincide with this season’s shows, October 10th sees the opening of “Gold by Yves Saint Laurent“, a celebration of the ‘magical’ colour he used from his very first collection in 1962.
Alongside opulent sequin and lamé couture pieces, gilded accessories and objects, will be more than 300 pieces of jewellery designed by Saint Laurent muse and garconne icon, Loulou de la Falaise (above). Other highlights include rare perfume bottles, signature gold buttons (below) and surrealist finger jewellery by Claude Lalanne (below). (more…)
Sophie Buhai is such an interesting designer. Not only is her jewellery extremely precious but wearable, she also creates tactile design objects like lighter cases, cigarette boxes*, paperweights and combs. Her AW22 and Resort 23 collections use onyx for rings, pendants and this incredible handcarved pocket mirror, as well as white jade, rock crystal and red jasper (I love the ‘Boule’ collar).
Continuing from last week’s jewellery post, I’m enjoying this less-is-more evolution of fine jewellery courtesy of Ilaria Icardi. The idea of wearing something super-refined with a normcore bodywarmer is very high-low me and also perfect for the sporty & rich generation. (more…)
