Prada dreams

The new Prada fragrance collection ‘Olfactories’ probably doesn’t need any more press coverage, but the marketing of these ‘fragrance collages’ appeals to my arty side. The idea is that the focus isn’t on notes or ingredients but the dreamy, subconscious feeling you get from these surrealist visuals. As Olfactories’ creator Daniela Andrier says, “there aren’t any explanations of the ingredients inside. I think it’s something we’re so fed up of; these eternal explanations of bergamot.” (more…)

Perfumer H – what Lyn Harris did next

Just what has Lyn Harris been doing with her time for the past two years? Since stepping aside from Miller Harris, the brand she founded in 2000, she has been reacquainting herself with her deepest loves – the British seasons, slow craft and creative collaboration – and cooking up a unique personal venture.

The sweet-smelling fruits of her labour have now been unveiled, revealing a reaction to the mass-market business of beauty that has personal resonance to her and hopefully to her customers. Buy It now: Summer scents

This is the first summer for yonks that I’ve felt properly summer-ready. For that I thank the early June spell of scorching sunny weather, oppressive at times but I can handle that – I need all the vitamin D I can get. To accompany, there has been a new scent to match every type of summer day. From light fruit-fests for picture-postcard weekends away, to green and serene scents for the cooler evenings, here are the summer scents that I have currently on rotation. (more…)
