The U.K. AIDS Memorial Quilt is showing at Tate Modern Turbine Hall this weekend. I went yesterday and it was a gentle, calm atmosphere with plenty of time to take in all the details and heartfelt stories of each quilt. An incredible display of folk art and overall, love ❤️ The accompanying 1994 documentary film, “There is a Light That Never Goes Out” is shown on the hour in the screening room and is really touching, with a few humorous moments. Lovely to see Paul Rutherford and Judy Blame in the film - two of my fave characters.Not sure how busy it will be at the weekend but do go, it’s so worth it.

UK AIDS MEMORIAL QUILT. Tomorrow (correction!) sees the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt go on display in the Tate Modern Turbine Hall, a combination of 42 quilts and 23 individual panels dedicated to approximately 384 individuals affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK. Alongside, there will be an hourly free screening of “There is a Light That Never Goes Out”, a 50-minute documentary about the 1994 display of the quilt in Hyde Park. The quilt is on display at Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall from 12-16 June; the film will be screened from 12-15 June. No booking required. Read more on disneyrollergirl.net (link in bio).
