Frieze

To Frieze, or not to Frieze?

Eduardo Paolozzi by Emma Paolozzi Paul Smith Albemarle Street

I’m not sure if I’ll make it to Frieze London, but if I do it will most likely be Frieze Masters than Frieze.

One of the hits of last year was dealer Helly Nahmad’s depiction of an imaginary collector’s lived-in apartment. I missed it but it famously inspired the set design for Erdem’s Aw15 LFW show.

We all love to see behind the scenes of an artist or creative. There’s definitely something very magical about getting a glimpse of an artist’s messy studio space. Paul Smith has tapped into this with his own Frieze installation in the Albemarle Street store. (more…)

A decade of Dover Street Market

Oh, what a busy year it’s proving to be for London’s Dover Street Market. This month marks its tenth year and to celebrate it’s doing what it does best, collaborating with its fashion friends to create more retail excitement than ever.

A joint effort with Visionaire, the US collab will produce limited edition tees from the likes of Alex Katz (above), Richard Phillips and Peter Lindbergh. (more…)

Trending for ss14: the intersection between art and fashion. Oh yes, I’m well up for this. Ok, art and fashion have always been rampant bedfellows, but from here on in, I think we’re going to see a lot more fash-art hook-ups. Sorry purists but art just got fashionable.

To whet our appetites, we’ve had the Dior-Warhol collab for Aw13 and the art-inspired collection from Prada for ss14. Not to mention Chanel’s art gallery-themed ss14 show and the Chanel Bond Street store that’s practically an art gallery in itself.

And hot on the heels of Paris Fashion Week we have… FRIEZE! (more…)
