Happy Birthday M.i.h Jeans! Chloe Lonsdale is celebrating 10 years of M.i.h Jeans with a pop-up shop and mini-collection called The Cult Denim Project. Selling ten favourite M.i.h pieces, it includes the chambray boiler suit, which is also one of my favourite M.i.h looks. (more…)

Retail round-up: The high street grows up

Jigsaw A-Line ss16

Something is up on the British high street and it’s all quite exciting. Jigsaw has been going from strength to strength for a while, bypassing the discounting and stepping up its design credentials. The new ‘A-Line’ concept is looking good; it’s creative, vibrant and bolder than you might expect from Jigsaw. The second collection – above and below, arriving imminently – feels fresh, with generously-proportioned tailoring and luxe shirting the obvious standouts. THE DRG STYLE INDEX: TOPSHOP X SPOTIFY, REPOSSI, CHANEL, PIRELLI, NOT JUST A LABEL

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. THE NEW PIRELLI GIRLS
Fran Lebowitz by Annie lebowitz for Pirelli
How amazing is the new Pirelli calendar? I’d much rather be inspired by Fran Lebowitz (for the month of May) than an oiled up Gisele, and if you’re not keen on Fran, take your pick from Tavi, Patti, Yoko, and more (more…)

Angelica-Huston-Gap-Dress-Normal

Well, isn’t Gap’s new ‘Dress Normal’ campaign interesting?

As we all know, this year’s buzzword ‘normcore’ is steeped in anony Gap-style dressing, so Gap has nodded to that in its Dress Normal strapline. But don’t expect 90s-tinged bland-chic. Gap’s imagery is far more elevated and beautiful, so we’re shown not normal people (thank God, I’m a bit over normal people), but Hollywood elite types in ‘normal’ situations to represent modern-day Gap.

My favourite is Angelica Huston (top) having a coffee in a gorgeously lit diner situation (as opposed to a normcore Starbucks). (more…)
