Spring forward – ten trends to try for 2017

OK, I know trends and seasons are ‘dead’ and all that but I can’t help it, trend-speak is ingrained in me! I’m counting the days* til I can shrug off the sixteen layers of padded coats and woollens and prance around in ‘crisp cotton shirts’ and barely there shorts. (Yeah right, I have not worn shorts in this country for at least ten years.)

First look at Craig Green AW17

London’s had quite the cold snap lately so this Craig Green get-up is well timed. These multiple quilted pieces are from his AW17 show, which was unveiled today at London Fashion Week Men’s.

Craig Green won British menswear designer of the year at the Fashion Awards in London last month but his clothes sell on both the men’s and womenswear floors. Their voluminous, super-boxy silhouettes may be an acquired taste but the utilitarian details have mainstream appeal (more…)



What to buy from Me+Em



Me+Em Oversized Silk Blouse

Last November I had the best evening at Me+Em’s Belgravia pop up, hosting a soiree to promote my book. I never feel that comfortable doing customer-facing events. I haven’t done many and I always feel a bit of a nana, but Me+Em have such lovely customers and it ended up being quite a hoot.

It was my first time getting properly intimate with the product. Me+Em sells mostly online so it’s not a brand I’ll find on my usual Liberty-Selfridges-The-Shop-At-Bluebird sweep. But I’ve seen it in PR showrooms and on other people and I knew it aligned with my tastes. I’d say it’s like a more affordable, less high fashion version of Joseph. (more…)
