The Gosha X Burberry capsule collection goes on sale on Saturday. It’s weird because I feel like this is almost old news considering we first heard about the collab back in June (and yes, my inner slow fashion advocate hates myself for thinking this…).

In normal fashion timing it’s not old news, but in Burberry see-now-buy-now land, it feels like a lifetime. We saw it on the runway, then in photography shown at the Here We Are exhibition in September and most recently worn by celebrities on the red carpet and in fashion mag editorials. There’s only one way I can de-stress at this time of year and no, it’s not a faceful of salted caramel panettone. (OK, why lie? That too.)

I’ve witnessed some really bad examples of monogrammed fashion items lately; it’s actually quite a skill knowing how to add a name or initials to a garment or accessory. I like the way Sophie Hulme is doing it, with her new personalisation service. These appliqued leather letter placements (above) are part of her signature service that’s been unveiled at the equally new Burlington Arcade boutique. Made from stacked and compacted saddle leather, the raised letters sit on the surface of the bag making a visual statement. (more…)
