A decade of Dover Street Market

1 MAIN DSM 10th Anniversary-Facade by RK (3)

Oh, what a busy year it’s proving to be for London’s Dover Street Market. This month marks its tenth year and to celebrate it’s doing what it does best, collaborating with its fashion friends to create more retail excitement than ever.

Let’s not forget, when Dover Street Market opened in 2004 it was the first store of its kind, a weird and wonderful melange of mega-brands, just-emerging designers and street wear – ever changing and always unpredictable. Twice a year it operates its ‘tachiagari‘, shutting up shop for three days while it installs a completely new vision for the new season.

This year, following its tachiagari in July, it’s shaken things up again by adding a scattering of ‘market stalls’ (complete with striped awnings) selling DSM souvenirs to delight the store’s avid retail tourists. (more…)

Slippers for hipsters: Mahabis

Mahabis

I stumbled on these Mahabis slippers via a Facebook ad of all things. But I think they’re really cool.

After being subjected to three ‘aging raver’ DJ types having a serious discussion about slippers a while ago, I said ‘someone needs to hurry up and exploit this market’. I was thinking along the lines of Stussy, Junya or Nike even, the brands that people of my generation grew up with and respect, because we want comfy slippers, but we also still love our credible brands and aren’t ready for Bhs.

Perfect pairing: everyday Nikes

Nike tech hyperfuse breathable windrunner Air Max Lunar1 JD Sport

Nike is on a big drive to make things weightless and streamlined, all the better to help you zip through your workout working week. As such, its Tech Hyperfuse windrunner and new Air Max Lunar1s are a winning combination. I’m not a fitness fan (have I mentioned that?) but I love Nike. (more…)

Sport meets street at Net-a-Sporter

Net-a-sporter-netasporter

Aaaaand here she is! The much-hyped Net-a-Sporter category has launched on Net-a-Porter and it has a pretty broad edit of product for the seriously sporty or the pretender who wants to look the part (guess which one I am?). Is it me or is the equestrian gear a little bit kinky? I’m all over those riding boots and prim ‘show shirts’. I’m also loving the primary-coloured one pieces from Lisa Marie Fernandez – the deep neckline and high cut legs are perfect.

Here’s an edit I prepared earlier, or click HERE to go to the site.
