I visited Fung’s beautiful studio in West London (in fact, it’s ten minutes from my house! #winning), where he showed me his collection of natural curiosities and explained how nature and art inform his practice. Is it me or is there a wave of disco nostalgia in the air?

The Antonio Lopez film has put the hedonistic 70s on our radar and there seems to be a rash of disco-centric exhibitions doing the rounds. Michael Abramson: Tales from the South Side, 1970’s Chicago Clubs is a photo exhibition about to end its run at London’s MMX Gallery. With names like Perv’s House and the High Chaparral, Chicago’s discos boasted some very chic patrons, many of whom are captured by photo journo Abramson in full false-lashed, spread-collared splendour. Last week, I went to a Fash & Mash Pioneers talk with Dan Widmaier, CEO and co-founder of Bolt Threads, the textile start-up that’s been working with Stella McCartney to create sustainable high-performance fabrics, such as lab-grown ‘spider silk’. It was well timed to add to the conversation around Earth Day and this week’s Fashion Revolution Week, in which we take a good look at our consumption habits and how they affect the world around us. The main takeaway from Widmaier’s talk was the realisation that our current consumption levels are truly out of control. So this year’s Fashion Revolution Week seems to be more important than ever.
