Christopher Bailey is leaving Burberry next year after 17 years at the brand. I don’t often get too involved in the designer merry-go-round discussions as these days it happens so frequently. And honestly, there aren’t many designers that I’m interested in on a personal level. But Phoebe Philo’s name has been thrown in the ring and that’s one that I think would be a great coup for Burberry. (more…)
Opening this week, Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold is the documentary we’ve all been waiting for. Directed by her nephew Griffin Dunne and her grandniece Annabelle Dunne, it’s an intimate portrayal of the writer, but doesn’t dwell as much as some might have hoped on her style. (more…)
Two stories caught my attention in the new Hermès magazine, Le Monde d’Hermes. The first is an amazing sounding exhibition celebrating Leïla Menchari, Hermès‘ extraordinary secret weapon, whose legendary window displays brought a playful spirit to the brand for 35 years. Prada’s retro arty AW17 collection has arrived online. These men’s hand knits jumped off the screen the first time I saw them back in January, an example of Miuccia Prada’s yearning for “reality, normality, simplicity”. (more…)
