Camille Miceli’s dopamine-drenched collection for Emilio Pucci has dropped

Pucci by Camille Miceli aw22

Emilio Pucci has just landed in its latest guise envisioned by new artistic director Camille Miceli.

Launched with a series of ‘activations’ in Capri to cement its legacy as a lifestyle brand, the see-now-buy-now collection’s dolce vita vibe gels well with the opening up of travel and tourism. ““It has to be about enjoying life, especially after all we’ve gone through,” Miceli told Vogue. Wild combinations at Prada AW22

Prada AW22 by Alessandro Lucioni Vogue

How fabulous are Raf and Miuccia together?

I love all the greatest Miuccia hits in the Prada AW22 collection (wacky feather trims, ugly geometrics, voluminous skirts and Mary Jane heels) but juxtaposed with Raf-isms (appliquéd MA1s, big coats, knitwear with a sliver of stretchy white turtle neck attached).

The power punch here is the combo of serious overcoats with sheer panelled evening skirts, something everyone can take ideas from styling-wise and the high street is going to go mad over. Camille Miceli, the super-influencer you’ve never heard of

I’m excited to see what Camille Miceli will do for Emilio Pucci as its new artistic director.

Among her resume highlights: Her first internship was with Azzedine Alaïa. She worked as a publicist for Chanel. She worked with Raf Simons at Christian Dior, overseeing jewellery including the – can we say iconic? – double ball earring. And she also worked with Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton as creative director of accessories developing jewellery, shoes, bags, sunglasses, and more. Her plans for Pucci are apparently centred on “joy and well-being.”

Her first collection is expected in 2022. (more…)

Pieter Mulier to Maison Alaïa

Pieter Mulier creative director Alaïa ss22

Some exciting news on the designer front. Pieter Mulier, the one-time secret weapon of Raf Simons (who can forget his stand out supporting role in Dior & I?) has been appointed creative director at Alaïa.

This sounds like an excellent appointment, with Mulier promising to retain Azzedine Alaïa’s “legacy of celebrating femininity and placing women at the heart of creation”, hopefully with a modern hand. I imagine Richemont will expect a big ROI with fulsome collections of clothes, accessories (and maybe even beauty?) but hopefully they can also find a way to imbue some of the slower pace Alaïa was known for with his ‘it comes when it comes’ schedules.
