& Other Stories

New in: Aw15 accessory edit

marni aw15 accessory edit

It’s that time of year when your eyes crave fashion newness but you don’t necessarily want to go down the full AW15 coat route (even though received wisdom says you should get your coat shopping done in July). The solution? A cheeky little accessory edit. I’m feeling & Other Stories’ chestnutty leather bag and these massive Clergerie clompy sandals paired with Marni’s plaid socks. Yes, I would probably break my neck in the Clergeries (and these Rachel Comey stompers – although kudos to Comey for adding the alpaca sole to help with sock grip) but just humour me for now. I also love the tactile curves of Marni’s ball jewellery along with & Other Stories’ stack of copper rings. I like the combination of something simple with something loud.

THE DRG STYLE INDEX: AND OTHER STORIES, HARDY AMIES, MAISON ASSOULINE LONDON

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. AND OTHER STORIES LAUNCHES FRAGRANCE

Moroccan Tea Eau de Toilette from & Other Srories

& Other Stories just gets everything right. It launched its first US store in New York last month to rave reviews and last week entered the fragrance market. There are four eau de toilettes (£26): Moroccan Tea, Punk Bouquet, Fig Fiction and Botanic Whisper. The packaging has a whiff of Maison Martin Margiela about it, with the apothecary bottles and utilitarian white labels. (more…)

Shop the post: Levi’s 501s reinvented

Levis 501 and heels

This summer, I noticed a trend emerging that I couldn’t wait to hit the high street. All the skater boys were wearing too-short jeans, an inch or so above their battered Vans and it’s a look I’ve always loved.

The skinny jeans obsession has peaked so we’re after something new. and as it coincides with Normcore, I’m just going to say it – welcome back Levi’s 501, I’ve missed you.

How I’d like to wear too-short 501s? Exactly like this. If your 501s aren’t this length when you buy them, you can get them altered at the Levi’s store, fast and free (I think mine were done in a day). And the walkable heels showing just a bit of skin are a refreshing change from Tribute-style ankle-breakers (RIP).

It’s worth investing in classics, so Saint Laurent, Valentino and Celine are good places to start. On the high street, try & Other Stories and Topshop.

Guest post: The newly-launched ‘& Other Stories’ celebrates individual (street) style

No-one does the high street better than the Brits, except possibly the Swedes! Well, H&M in particular. Launching today is H&M’s new brand, & Other Stories. Here’s the verdict from guest contributor, LSN Global retail editor, ALISON BISHOP

So, the new retail concept & Other Stories by H&M has finally launched (in London first, natch), and it seems there is room for another fashion retail concept on the high street. & Other Stories lives up to its premium product pitch in terms of ‘style over fast-fashion’. (more…)
