So the small, discreet, exclusivity rule doesn’t count when it comes to China. Hello Céline fashion show in Beijing! Céline staged a big-ass fashion show in a celeb-packed venue in Beijing’s art district last week to showcase its AW14 collection. The likes of pop star Faye Wong (above) arrived properly attired the Céline way with mannish coat robed over the shoulders. Why the fanfare from this usually reserved brand? (more…)



London Fashion Week AW12: more highlights

London Fashion Week is famous for its surprises and its mix of commercial shows by Paul Smith, Nicole Farhi and Jasper Conran are nicely balanced by the interactive, multi-sensory theatre of other designers. Richard Nicoll chose to present a hybrid of showroom, shoot and show while McQ by McQueen’s theatrical show had an element of audience participation at the end. (more…)

Heads up! If you’re at a loose end next Tuesday evening, I’ll be speaking on a panel hosted by Grazia’s Paula Reed discussing the role of trend forecasting and its impact on design. Also on the panel: Topman’s Gordon Richardson, designer Tim Soar, stylist Alexis Knox and Isham Sardouk from Stylesight.
