Here’s a good example of a branded campaign where everything fits. Dr Martens (whose shoes have really hit their stride in recent seasons) came up with the First And Forever idea, playing on a sense of youthful nostalgia that marries fashion, music, romance and some beautiful imagery. (more…)



First look: Wallis Simpson’s style in Madonna’s W.E



Tom Munro has shot a lush editorial for Vanity Fair featuring Andrea Riseborough and James D’Arcy as Wallis and Edward Simpson. As promised, the costumes are stunning. Madonna hired her longtime stylist and celebrated costume designer Arianne Phillips to recreate the Simpsons’ revered style for the film W.E, which looks at the couple’s relationship with modern day parallels. FOUND! The detachable collar that wont swivel!



Thanks to Keep It Chic I have discovered a new fashion term. A ‘topping’ is apparently the name of these switcheroo collars that have a bit of extra fabric to keep them in place. The word ‘topping’ came from CeCe Toppings‘ founder Jamie Turquie; “it’s the top of the shirt. The word ‘dickey* was so unattractive that it automatically put off so many people.
