Trend report: what to wear for SS21

Hermès SS21

God I’m so bloody ready for spring, aren’t you? Granted I mean actual spring more than fashion spring but fashion spring is a good start. I was wondering if we’d see big changes for SS21 but I don’t think our post-Covid reality has quite revealed itself yet. So consider my spring post more of a general round-up of things I’m eyeing at the moment…

1/ TALISMAN JEWELLERY.
Meaningful charms, amulets and talismans feel right for these pearl-clutching times and I’ve certainly found myself reaching for my dad’s old gold rings that I wear on a chain whenever I feel like I need some tactile reassurance. I’ve also been revisiting Tina Chow jewellery on Pinterest, along with the equally sculptural pendants of 1970s Elsa Peretti (below). (more…)

(UPDATED) Shop the post: Uniqlo U SS21

Uniqlo U SS21

Loving the new Uniqlo U SS21 look book, which features the ‘walking in the city’ vibe now familiar from artistic director Christophe Lemaire and partner Sarah-Linh Tran’s shows.

(UPDATE: Scroll down to shop the post.)

The collection has all the pieces we expect from Uniqlo U – superior shirting, fine gauge knits, trench coats, plus some great looking denim. I’ve not really rated Uniqlo’s denim until now but these true blue washes and cuts look like they’re aiming to grab some Arket market share.

The collection launches on 28th January and there’s men’s and kids’ too.

See more here* or scroll down shop.

Palate cleanser: The Row SS21

The Row SS21

After overindulging in 90s trash movies, toasted Panettone and lashings of brandy cream, it’s time for a palate cleanse. Here’s mine: The Row SS21.

What’s nice is that you can recreate these looks with stuff you already own. Just super-starch the shirts and steam iron the pants so they have a crease so sharp they could stand up on their own. (more…)

Trend report: Cool Paris Girl vibes at Paco Rabanne SS21

Paco Rabanne SS21

Loving the Cool Paris Girl vibes at Paco Rabanne SS21.

Full disclosure: I’ve not paid attention to Paco Rabanne for aaaaages but artistic director Julien Dosenna (one-time Nicolas Ghesquiere protege) has reimagined the pioneering house with a modern finesse.

I love the cool girl casting and minimal hair and make up as well as ‘relatable’ styling (more…)
