Buy it now: classic jeans and sweats for spring

Time for some jeans and sweats news, as I’m about to chuck off the knits and go into slightly lighter layer territory.

I live in jeans and my go-to cut is generally an as-loose-as-I-can-get-away-with boyfriend fit, or a straight cut that’s my smart option to wear with a stack heel boot and a blazer. My current default is a pair of two-year-old dark indigo Arket jeans that have a high waist and a straight, wide-ish leg but alas, they’re sold out on site. Levi’s has done it again with its new Levi’s Engineered Jeans collection. (OK, not that new, if you remember them from the first time round in 1999.) 20 years ago, Levi’s brought out a unique darted and twisted seamed jean that was a radical departure from its classic Americana silhouettes. Strange as it was, it caught on instantly and was widely copied for a few seasons.

This spring, Levi’s has revived the cuts with a special edition reissue for men and women. (more…)



Found! The oldest Levi’s women’s jeans in the world

Love this story on what’s thought to be the oldest pair of women’s jeans in existence. They’re Levi’s of course, and were owned by Viola Longacre, a student teacher who bought then in the early 30s. The cut is surprisingly contemporary (I’d snap these up in a heartbeat), which proves why people lust after vintage Levi’s. (more…)



Spring forward – ten trends to try for 2017

OK, I know trends and seasons are ‘dead’ and all that but I can’t help it, trend-speak is ingrained in me! I’m counting the days* til I can shrug off the sixteen layers of padded coats and woollens and prance around in ‘crisp cotton shirts’ and barely there shorts. (Yeah right, I have not worn shorts in this country for at least ten years.)
