I had heard of Serge Lutens and his incredibly expensive (and tiny) lipsticks. I knew his perfumes from many forays to the Liberty fragrance department but was only vaguely clued up on his past as Christian Dior’s beauty creative director in the late 60s and 70s. (more…)
Winter is a bitch isn’t it? I just can’t with these flat, grey, dark-by-3pm afternoons. The only thing that tempts me out of my bed – one duvet, four blankets, and two hot water bottles at last count – is the promise of a piping hot shower and invigorating scent-infused suds. My current saviour is the hair line by LA-based Playa.

There’s only one way I can de-stress at this time of year and no, it’s not a faceful of salted caramel panettone. (OK, why lie? That too.)
The one thing that really works is a piping hot bath, a fat magazine book and a generous capful of Aromatherapy Associates bath oil. These have been a beauty editor’s secret potion since the year dot. There are many other bath unguents of course, but in terms of genuinely allowing deep relaxation, these blissful bottles are practically medicinal. (more…)
