Where did I put my glasses?

Del'ep glasses holder

What is it with me and small rectangular leather pochettes that go round your neck?

I’m at the stage in life where I’m constantly leaving my glasses in the other room. And now I’ve seen a chic solution. Del’ep is the elegant French company making simple, hand-crafted glasses holders from vegetable-tanned leather. Founded by former model and fashion garconne, Sigrid de l’Epine, the glasses cases are made to order in the Ile-de-France region and delivered within about three weeks. I love how understated and functional they are. There are Del’ep key holders, card holders and phone cases as well. (more…)

Everybody wants to be Aimé Leon Dore

Aimé Leon Dore

Amazing really. There’s nothing fundamentally new about Aimé Leon Dore (chinos and varsity jackets – groundbreaking!), but the branding execution, styling, casting, collabs and community-building are masterful. It’s just had investment from LVMH and it seems to be the new preppy-revivalist playbook that everyone (read: Brooks Brothers, J Crew) is following closely.

The latest collection drops online at 11am EST tomorrow. (more…)

The beauty gesture: solid perfume

Henry Jacques solid perfume Clic Clac accessory

Solid perfumes are back.

Glossier has revived its much loved but discontinued Glossier You solid perfume* in a new refillable format (below). Even better, it’s alcohol-free, water-free and vegan. The previous version wasn’t refillable, so Glossier pressed pause while it perfected the product. The benefits of this cult new (and permanent) version are that its small, pebble-like case is portable and travel-friendly, while the solid balm formula allows for more precise application. The balm refill comes in a small tin tray that slots into the container via a magnet. The Glossier You scent is the same; a musky skin scent that’s subtle and personal. Buy it here*. (more…)

We don’t know her!), clashing colours, skirts aplenty (layered over trousers) and supersized footwear, whether that’s chunky technical trainers or Rick Owens’ cult platforms*. (Do not talk to me about Crocs).

I’ve picked out the more subdued examples from Acielle’s beautiful shots. Key trends: visible-from-Mars MA1s and puffers (but more glam than gorpcore), elevated utilitarian headgear (balaclavas, bucket hats, beanies in outré colours and proportions), cross-body pouches (again, in the boldest, brightest interpretations) and most unexpected – neck ties!
