Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Linlithgow collection tweets up a storm



Chanel, Scotland, tartan, kilts, twinsets… what’s not to love in the latest Chanel Métiers d’Art show at Linlithgow Palace in Edinburgh? I’ll admit I have a love-hate relationship with Chanel RTW but this ticked most of my ‘love’ boxes. In particular, Stella Tennant in the ultimate luxe twinset and Edie Campbell in argyle-patterned tights and plaid tam-o-shanter, not to mention Sam Mcknight’s phenomenal Elizabethan hair dos. Library corner: Diane Von Furstenberg And The Tale Of The Empress’s New Clothes



My personal highlight of this year’s Vogue Festival (which returns on 28-29 April 2013) was the Diane Von Furstenberg talk. What a woman! What incredible stories! And there’s more where they come from because Camilla Morton has just added Diane Von Furstenberg And The Tale Of The Empress’s New Clothes to her repertoire of modern fashion fairytales. Following on from Christian Lacroix And The Tale Of Sleeping Beauty and Manolo Blahnik’s The Elves And The Shoemaker, Morton has woven her version of The Emperor’s New Clothes into the legend of DVF and the making of her fashion empire. Lahssan X Façonnable



I love what French label Lahssan has been doing with its deconstructed trench coats, favourited by the Tommy Tom set (Elisa Nalin, Natalie Joos et al) and influential stores like The Shop at Bluebird, Opening Ceremony and 10 Corso Como Tokyo).

To take his influence further, designer Dryce (one name only) has collaborated with Riviera heritage brand Façonnable to produce a capsule line of fun macs in Lichtenstein-esque primary-hued stripes. And naturally, he enlisted Tommy Ton and Elisa Nalin to shoot, style and model the look book. Watch out for the line when it arrives in Spring…




No-brainer gifting the Jo Malone London way



Fact: Jo Malone London always gives good Christmas. The crackers are a guaranteed winner (oops sorry, sold out again), and the cologne collections are everything a Jo Malone fan could want. In the past, these beauty gift sets were called ‘coffrets‘ and generally considered rather naff but these days they’re carefully chosen and handsomely presented. (more…)
