The Chanel and Dior AW14 couture collections were so different from each other although they both referenced the past to inform the future. The other thing they had in common was youthful hair and makeup. Chanel’s wayward ‘eighties boy band’ hairpieces (above and below) stole my attention from the clothes, giving the outfits an energetic attitude alongside equally youth-centric Sharpie-pen eyeliner flicks. Last week I met with the PR for Tom Ford Beauty, where she arranged all the latest spring lip and nail colours before me. Most exciting was a first look at the new (and first ever) Tom Ford face palette (above) due in April. Even the MD of the store we were in snuck over from his meeting at the next table to get a peek. In the pics below you can also just see the Lip and Cheek Shimmers (bottom right) which also land on counter in April. (more…)

Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Linlithgow collection tweets up a storm

Chanel, Scotland, tartan, kilts, twinsets… what’s not to love in the latest Chanel Métiers d’Art show at Linlithgow Palace in Edinburgh? I’ll admit I have a love-hate relationship with Chanel RTW but this ticked most of my ‘love’ boxes. In particular, Stella Tennant in the ultimate luxe twinset and Edie Campbell in argyle-patterned tights and plaid tam-o-shanter, not to mention Sam Mcknight’s phenomenal Elizabethan hair dos. (more…)
