I seriously need to up my sun hat game

Arket seersucker sun hat

Here in the UK we’re quite deluded about sun care. Being deprived of bright sun for nine months of the year, we go a bit mad in the other three. And thus convince ourselves that sun protection doesn’t matter as it’s never strong enough. Or something.

This year though I need to get out of that mindset. One way is to get acquainted with the better sun care creams. But equally important is to try to cover up a bit more, stay out of direct sun, wear good sunglasses and invest in some decent headgear. Top of my wish list is this Arket seersucker sun hat* (above) but there are plenty of other inexpensive but versatile hats around in cotton, straw, linen and raffia.

Gap even temporarily erased its entire Instagram feed save for one picture of the polarising item. At this stage, one could concede, what exactly does Gap have to lose? (more…)

Shop the post: Linen season is upon us

COS linen shirt

Linen season has arrived and I’m very pleased with my new COS linen-mix pleated trousers* (below). These are described as ‘light beige’ but they’re more of a cream, with a slightly slubby, ‘raw’ texture. I’ve always loved these kind of old school tailored linen trousers. Linen does crease but I think the creases are forgivable if the shape is tailored. These come in dark navy* as well, which I also added to my upgraded summer uniform. (more…)

Ideas to steal from Dior men’s Resort 2022

1 Dior Men's Resort 2022

The Dior men’s Resort 2022 collection was revealed with zero fanfare earlier this week. No show, no party, no influencers, just a look book on Vogue.com. It’s the Resort collection, so it’s the commercial collection built on crowd-pleasing pieces rather than conceptual showmanship. But that doesn’t mean it was short of appeal. Here are my top takeaways… (more…)
