Buy it now: the My-wardrobe edit

This has been quite the year for My-wardrobe. It’s changed it’s remit to offer a more mixed hi-lo edit, with a stable of Brit designers in its ‘London Lab‘ sitting alongside our international favourites. There’s a ton of Carven (hello wool gazar bell-shaped skirt) and an injection of Kurt Geiger London amongst core My-wardrobe brands like Joseph, DVF and Goat.

Here’s a few of my current favourites…

First look at Joseph SS14

2014 will be a big year for Joseph. Having just celebrated its 40th anniversary, next year will mark its returns to the LFW catwalk. I have extremely high hopes. Having just seen the SS14 look book and collection, I can promise a return to the fashioned-up basics and utilitarian tailoring that Joseph is loved for.

The styling here is great, and very reminiscent of Joseph’s 90s heyday. We’ve all seen this look imitated lately by Celine, Stella et al, but Joseph did it the first time around, along with Helmut and Jil. Right down to the too-short pants (Joseph always cut a mean trouser), pool slides (styled by Jane How) and grunge-luxe make-up (shoutout to my girl Shinobu). Judge for yourself…

Beauty futures: What’s new and next in beauty?

And-Other-Stories-Beauty-Polly-Braden

As you might have gathered, I love knowing what’s new and next when it comes to brands and retail and one of my favourite information resources is LS:N Global. The trends and insight network from The Future Laboratory covers global innovation from design, retail and lifestyle sectors and has a free blog called Seed *. Even better than the online content are the regular insight forums held at The Future Laboratory HQ in Shoreditch. Recently, I was invited to cover Beauty Futures, a jam-packed forum that focused on the beauty industry. Over six hours the LS:N Global team unpacked the emerging trends that will affect the way we shop for beauty over the coming years. Here’s my breakdown: (more…)

Isabel Marant for H&M – only five more sleeps

1 Isabel-Marant-HandM

Is the Isabel Marant for H&M collab likely to be the most popular yet? It’s possible. I’ve seen the goods up close and they’ve done a great job of including the Marant signatures – from mannish coats to second-skin leather cigarette pants, to simple stiletto pumps. (more…)
