Day four is when things properly take shape at LFW with the heavy hitters showing the fruits of their labour. Alongside the international heavyweights Burberry Prorsum and Tom Ford, we had two newbies on the schedule. Blue Farrier made her debut as creative director of Issa London, while Maia Norman’s Mother Of Pearl presented at the ICA. (more…)

Beauty bits: Chanel’s spring shades, Meadham Kirchhoff’s fragrance and a Kevyn Aucoin exhibition

Oh man, I am so done with winter already! Luckily, every day of pure white cloud overhead brings another postie delivery of spring beauty goodness…

TORY BURCH BEAUTY IS HERE

Tory Burch Beauty has now arrived (at Harrods and Toryburch.co.uk) and it’s a nicely considered offer. Packaging-wise, the gold-on-orange fretwork is gorgeous, although you’ll be slightly disappointed if expecting something weighty as it’s not metal. Oh goody. In amongst all the tracksuity sport-luxe that’s dominating London Menswear for AW14, Burberry brings us the silk foulard. Slung jauntily around the shoulders of biker jackets and teddybear coats, it’s not the most macho look but it’s one I really love.

My favourite was a London map-print (old style, not Google-style thankfully), which also comes on a jazzy silk shirt. My other highlights were the handpainted grained leather Caban coats (£5,500), round-shouldered camel Chesterfield coat (£2,495) and split collared Aran sweater (£1,495).

Neelam Johal is Burberry’s first ever Indian campaign model

Great to see lovely Neelam Johal (now known as Neelam Gill) representin’ the brown girls in the new SS14 Burberry campaign.

You’ll remember that the Burberry show was Neelam’s first ever catwalk show and spotting her on the runway was one of my highlights of LFW. Along with a load of up and coming music and acting talent, Models 1’s Neelam is seen giving great trench coat on a squishy velour couch in Chris Bailey’s front room and grinning from ear to ear as every new young Burberry face should. Talk about living the dream…
