Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess 2017

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess eau de parfum 2017

The arrival of the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess collection is like a ‘summer’s coming!’ klaxon. It’s a combo of fragrance, shimmering skin oils, bronzing powders, make-up and body moisturisers that are delivered in hyper-glam packaging. And the cherry in the cocktail is a very distinctive tropical-floral fragrance that’s an instant mood-transporter to exotic climes. (more…)

Quote of the day: Peter Florence

Oberto Gilli bookshelves

“The communal commitment to publishing a book is huge. It’s not an instantaneous 140-character ejaculation of responsive knee-jerk stuff. It’s carefully considered. And many people have contributed to determining the decency, the accuracy and the truth of what it is. To me, publishing as an enterprise is heroic and important. In a time of disputed, faked and contested fact, there is something about hardback books that remains incredibly alluring.”
Peter Florence, Hay Festival founder, Monocle

Isabelle Huppert – yes she Cannes

Isabelle Huppert wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vacarello at the Kering dinner, Cannes 2017

I never look at red carpet dressing, but I’ve just had my inbox flooded with pictures from the Cannes party circuit. What was Kristen Stewart’s stylist thinking with that bizarre Chanel contraption? And Rihanna’s with this Adam Selman upholstery?

While it was sad to see some of my favourite French actresses looking trashy af in Saint Laurent by Anthony Vacarello at the Kering dinner, the situation redeemed itself thanks to Isabelle Huppert.

Here she is looking spectacular but not try-hard in a floor length Saint Laurent ivory crepe gown with draped and pleated waist detail and a black leather belt.

The black mani and immaculate red lip are equally sublime.
