High street beauty: Urban Outfitters Gourmand
I can’t say I’ve looked into Urban Outfitters own brand beauty but I’m pleasantly surprised by its fragrance offer. The Gourmand line is just perfect. The scents are lovely – girlish and gourmand but not overly sweet and with no synthetic dry down. I have three, of which Macaron Rosé is my most worn, followed by Pistachio Brulée and Citron Glacé. They’re great everyday fragrances that you can wear with anything and they also work for evening.
The Urban Outfitters Gourmand branding is very clever, tapping into the current vogue for clean elegance with angular bottles and minimalist typography. They’re very Instagrammable and not surprisingly, they’re proving popular with younger customers who admit to buying them based on aesthetics (hey, we’ve all done it). They’re also super-affordable at £15 for eau de parfum.
The ancillary products are equally appealing although I can’t seem to see them on the UK site. I’ve clicked around the U.S site and love the look of the lip balm and hand cream. As with & Other Stories, the high street brands have become extremely adept at emulating the look and feel of high-end beauty products. I’m thinking… Zara next?

Took me forever to navigate from US to U.K. Site, then realise there is no men’s fragrance. #ffs
