Buy it now: & Other Stories SS18 edit

I’m finally starting to feel myself emerge from the hellhole of winter (I felt the blues so badly this year!) into the first flush of spring. Last week I stopped wearing thermals under my jeans, I’ve been spritzing on the colognes (I’m back on the Hermes Eau de Pamplemousse Rose) and the stripy tees have come out of storage. And this week I’ve noticed so many good, energising things on the new-in pages.

& Other Stories is brilliant at the moment – I tried on these red cat-eye sunglasses in store at the weekend and I didn’t want to take them off. (more…)

I can’t get through winter without (part 2)… Chanel Neapolis New City SS18

Chanel’s cheery spring beauty collections always arrive just when you’re reaching winter breaking point. The Chanel Neapolis New City SS18 collection arrived in January, but it’s taken me a while to take the pics because… the darkness, people!

Anyway, I’m really enjoying the scenic sojourns that Chanel’s creative director of beauty, Lucia Pica takes us on. Her latest is a trip to her hometown of Naples, taking in sunsets, local greenery and ancient frescoes to inspire the colour palette and textures of the make-up.

First impressions: the Les 9 Ombres eye palette in Affresco (below, limited edition) is a real highlight (more…)

I can finally feel myself being eased out of the winter doldrums, helped along by yesterday’s blast of winter sunshine and a rash of new March magazines spreading spring cheer. i-D Spring 18 is guest-edited by Charlie Porter, Elle UK March is a big spring fashion issue (that’s the kind of energy hit you don’t get from online’s second-by-second drip feed) and the next issue of WattsWhat magazine will be out in ten days featuring my profile of a brilliantly inspiring architect.

And then there are the Spring ad campaigns. Margaret Howell’s are always a treat, shot by Alasdair McLellan and classically styled in a way that makes you want to click to buy the whole look. (more…)
