Back in February, I ran a piece on the newly-launched Winser London. An online-to-offline fashion start-up founded by Kim Winser (former CEO of Pringle Of Scotland and Aquascutum), it specialises in luxed-up working wardrobe essentials at a friendlier price point than you’d expect. Supplementing the online offer are pop-up shops, so far in Gerrards Cross and Harvey Nichols. Nine months on, I caught up with Winser to find out how the first year of trading is going, what the challenges have been and what’s next for the brand… (more…)

David Bowie Is at the V&A was a brilliant trip down memory lane as well as a peek into the brain of the enigma that is Bowie. However much we see of him, do we really feel like we know the man? Apparently, he kept an archive of everything he had ever done from his early youth.
Every song lyric, sketch, photo, sleeve design was carefully stored for…what? He didn’t know at his early age that he would become an icon of his time, but I guess the ambition was there.
Looking at the vitrines curated by a cast of London creatives at the ICA Off-Site project, ‘A Journey Through London Subculture – 1980s to now’, it’s clear that a lot of people have also kept the ephemeral fragments that sum up their artistic journey. From flyers to Polaroids, to scratchy notes and stickers, what to some looks like old junk, is of intrinsic value, especially in the digital age of cloud storage. Need a good reason to go to Harrods? Of course you do. Well here’s one: Valentino has created it’s very own pop-up shop to celebrate the unstoppable cult of the Rockstud. In situ until the end of the month, the Rockstud Rouge pop-up sells bags and shoes adorned with the famous pyramid studs, amid a selection of Valentino AW13 RTW in the expected shade of crimson. (Can I point out that the walls are studded as well…)
It bags may come and go but the Rockstud is in another league altogether. According to Harrods chief merchant Marigay McKee, “it has dominated the accessories market, growing in demand since its launch.” (more…)
