Day 3: London Collections: Men SS13

My last day of men’s fashion week was a short one as I only had two shows. JW Anderson was as unexpected as expected – a medley of flat-coloured knits, asymmetric coats and clingy jerseys, contrasted with roomy pinstripe tailoring and Jonathan’s favourite chunky-soled shoes. As always, there was a play on gender conventions, so we had sheer applique separates and skewed headscarves added to the mix. Definitely one of the most memorable collections of the weekend

Confirmed: Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

It’s true! And here are the details. The Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection launches on 15th November worldwide and online at HM.com. There will be mens and women’s clothing and accessories but whether my beloved L’Incognito shades will be reproduced is unconfirmed. Read all the info here and watch the video below…

Rumoured: Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

Twitter is abuzz with the rumours of H&M’s (allegedly) latest collab with Maison Martin Margiela. While I’m loving the idea of cheap-chic versions of Margiela trench coats, Tabi boots and L’Incognito sunnies, these days it’s not just about the product. There’s also the ad campaign, video and surrounding promotional activity to get excited about. So who do we think might be commissioned to work on those and what to expect? I’d love to see an accompanying Sophie Calle video or ad campaign (behind the lens, but why not in front of it as well) or perhaps Kirsten Owen as the face of the campaign. What about you?

Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop: Wish you were there?

A recent interview with Topshop‘s Kate Phelan revealed that the creative director plans to make its designer collaborations bigger and better. “I think before, the collaborations have always been seen as something quite small compared to the rest of the business. There’s so much potential in the relationship we have with the designers, we should maximise it.” And what great sense that makes. Prime example: last week’s Meadham Kirchhoff kitschfest – an all singing and dancing in-store extravaganza at the London Topshop flagship. Wish you were there?
