Buy it now: Selfridges Lancome miniatures advent calendar

Remember the super duper beauty advent calendar from Selfridges that the blogersphere went mad about at ‘Christmas in July’? Well it’s on sale now. Containing a ‘best of’ mix of miniature products including a YSL Rouge Pur Couture Mini lipstick, a 30ml Kiehl’s Crème De Corps and a 2ml Lancome Hypnôse Classic Mascara (and we all know Lancome’s mascaras are the best), these won’t stick around for long.

I also think these Lancome beauty crackers are a genius idea and perfect for a girly Christmas lunch. Six crackers contain Génifique 7ml, Visionnaire 7ml, Bi–Facil 30ml, L’Absolu Rouge Mini, Juicy Tube 7ml, Hypnôse Mascara Mini, a festive hat and a beauty tip – not bad for £38. (No word if Chanel will ever do something similar but one lives in hope.)

How does trend forecasting work? (You can find out on Tuesday)

Heads up! If you’re at a loose end next Tuesday evening, I’ll be speaking on a panel hosted by Grazia’s Paula Reed discussing the role of trend forecasting and its impact on design. Also on the panel: Topman’s Gordon Richardson, designer Tim Soar, stylist Alexis Knox and Isham Sardouk from Stylesight.

The event is open to the public and includes a one-night-only exhibition of vintage clothing by C20 Vintage. Tickets, £15. More info here.

Front row faces SS12

I’ve never bothered with the front row pics on Style.com (ugh, ghastly celebs!) but I had to do some research for a publication so I had a wee nose. And frankly I was hooked!* These are my favourites…

On Hermes saris and localised luxury

Hermes is opening stores left, right and centre, proving that there’s no shortage of demand for Constance handbags and playful-luxe knick knacks. Last month saw the opening of a new men’s flagship in Rome but I’m more interested in the recently opened Hermes standalone store in Bombay. Built at 15a Horniman Circle, (the point zero from where all meeting points in the city are measured), it’s the first luxury store to open in a standalone location rather than in a hotel or luxury mall as is the norm for India.
