BrandAlley launches Pin To Win Facebook app




What with all the Pinning, Tumbling, Fancying and Discoveredd-ing, I’m fast getting inspirationed out*. Enough with the inspiration – I don’t need anymore! But I guess I’m an extreme case – most people don’t spend their lives scrolling through websites 1000 hours a day.

The latest, and inevitable chapter in the social curation story is that of brands and retailers using virtual ‘pinboards’ to drive sales. (more…)

Paris Fashion Week Menswear SS13: Kenzo




Possibly my favourite Paris show, following a brief display of parkour gymnastics (above), Kenzo heralded a return to its Jungle Jap roots, showing a sporty but tailored collection mixing influences of the urban jungles of Paris and New York with those of Asian jungles. The layers of camo and abstract animal prints are what made this collection sing for me, as well as the huge variety of accessories. Designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have brought their retailers’ eye to Kenzo so have got the balance of creativity and commerce spot on. (more…)



Hermes Editeur: Hiroshi Sugimoto vs Josef Albers

Hermes is showing its latest Hermes Editeur scarf collaboration with Hiroshi Sugimoto at Art Basel til tomorrow. The silk scarves of Sugimoto’s Polaroids are a lesson in pure colour that Hermes has produced using a new inkjet printing method. You can see the whole range of scarves on the Hermes Editeur site (the behind-the-scenes photos are quite something), alongside the previous collaboration with Josef Albers. In fact, Sugimoto and Albers complement each other quite beautifully…
