Disappearing fast: Louis Vuitton Cruise 2015

1 Louis-Vuitton-Cruise-2015-press-day

While here in the UK we’ve had an extremely mild autumn and stores grumble that they haven’t sold enough AW14 coats, the fashion-forward customer is onto other things. Namely, Cruise. The Cruise 2015 collections arrived in November and continue to sell all the way until June. It’s a well known fact now that Cruise (and pre-fall) collections sell more for stores than the more directional spring-summer and autumn-winter collections.

Last week I went to Louis Vuitton to check out the SS15 collection. The press day was help in the private ‘apartment’ on the top floor of the Bond Street Maison. Afterwards I went for a nose around the store as I haven’t been in since Ghesquiere took over from Jacobs. Burberry Winter Glow Collection

Dear Santa, please can I have my entire tree decked in these sumptuous gold Burberry Beauty packages?

A Street style exhibition

Another date for the diary. This is only on for three days and it starts this Friday.

89:14 – A Street Style Journey is a look at the last 25 years of street style trends, featuring exhibits from fashion and music influencers (including a fair few friends of DRG). Also included are some of the images from Nina Manandhar’s brilliant What We Wore book, plus a live street style ‘map’ to which punters are encouraged to add their own ephemera, photos and stories. Until the days of Tommy Ton and The Sartorialist, ‘street style’ actually meant something completely different. Less high fashion peacocking and more youth culture fashion tribes. (more…)

Paul Smith – the Instagram tour

Last Monday I was invited to a special breakfast at Paul Smith’s Covent Garden HQ at the painful hour of 7am. I might have attempted it but I had to be at the WIRED Retail conference on the other side of town that morning. *WEEPS AND WAILS* But here’s why it was special. Following breakfast and a meet-n-greet, the invited attendees were led by Sir Paul himself on an #Instameet tour of Covent Garden, ending at the Paul Smith store in Floral Street. (more…)
