London is getting a permanent Glossier store this winter



Good news for all the people Googling “London Glossier store”… it’s back!

After its legendary Covent Garden store had to permanently close last year as a result of the first U.K lockdown, we’ve recently had happy news of its return. The new permanent Glossier London store* will actually be the first ever permanent international flagship for the beauty brand. While the exact location is still to be announced, we do know it will be opening at the end of the year. (more…)

Would you shop at a Sotheby’s ‘buy it now’ store?

Gotta love the millennialisation of auction houses. From online speed auctions to hosting sales of rare Nikes to courting hype curators, the likes of Sotheby’s and Christies are pacing ahead in attracting younger demographics.

The latest initiative is a Sotheby’s boutique. Just opened at Sotheby’s‘ flagship on York Avenue in New York, the bricks-and-mortar store will rely on guest tastemakers to curate pop-up sales that hopefully mimic the adrenaline rush of scoring a hard-to-get grail item from one of its auctions. I can’t wait to go to shops. While lockdown news has focused on the e-commerce successes, the UK high street is doubling down on getting punters back through the doors. For me, shopping is not only about buying, but also about socialising and seeing what’s new. The best stores have always been more than transactional destinations; from Topshop, Oxford Circus (R.I.P) to Dover Street Market, they’re discovery zones and temples of worship to community and culture. Made in France: Landline and La Botte Gardiane

Two gorgeous French discoveries to share. One I found via the comments section of the New York Times story on the closure of Brooklyn’s Bird boutique, directing me to Landline in Paris (above). The store doesn’t even have a website yet (it’s it in the works), but its few Instagram posts give you a good sense of its rustic ‘garconne’ offer.

I’m getting the vibe of a French Labour & Wait, where you can pick up traditional French boater hats by Chapellerie Coustillères, classic country knits and Marseille soaps in a nod to nostalgia and safety. (more…)
