I’m out of the loop when it comes to new model faces. But the Prada SS21 show featured all runway newbies and one in particular stood out. Greta Hofer has an air of Natalie Portman about her, combined with the garconne vibe of 90s Jeny Howorth and Y2K Agyness Deyn. A free-spirited Austrian, the gamine crop came not from a model agent’s suggestion but on a whim, administered by her own fair scissorhands in the middle of the night. (more…)
Just spotted this image of model Sara Blomqvist in The Gentlewoman magazine. I’m not at the cutting my own hair stage yet, but I’ve been hankering for a changeon the coiff front. I like this soft messy cut.
When this cut emerged in the 90s I hated it as it was a throwback to the 70s. (If you lived it the first time, etc…) But the 90s take was minimalist and a bit grungy. Adding it to my Pinterest short hair board while I continue to ponder and grow my fringe….

At The Beauty Conversation* we have been talking for a while about the shift from models and influencers to ‘activist models’, as a vehicle for brands to express their ethical values. This shift is reaching its peak now with most brands hiring outspoken role models who have a strong social media following and a passion for activism or a cause rather than standard models or It Girls as their ‘face of’.
Example: multi brand e-commerce retailer Zalando, who has hired gender nonconforming model Rain Dove (above), plus-sized model FelicityHayward and Gurls Talk founder Adwoa Aboah for its latest ‘Free to Be’ campaign. (more…)
Even though I didn’t buy it myself (it was a gift about 20 years ago), my Cartier Panthère watch has been one of my most faithful style companions. With its steel bracelet, curved corners and discreet sapphire winding crown, it really is a go-anywhere watch.
Net-a-Porter has just announced it will stock Cartier watches permanently on the site, following an initial test phase last year. It’s ramping up its offer of fine jewellery and watch brands and to accompany the news, it has released a new Cartier campaign. If anything can entice you to splash that cash, this is it. (more…)
