Chloe Sevigny’s the face of Miu Miu’s Aw12 campaign, making us nostalgic for the last time she posed for Miu Miu in 1996. I prefer the 1996 version; those flat planes of colour, sandals and slacks are suddenly looking quite contemporary and chanelling the vibe of Prada’s SS13 menswear collection. Will Miuccia take a cue from menswear for SS13 and deliver something similar for Miu Miu womenswear SS13?
Despite the intensive schedule of shows and fashiony events, I made a big effort to see some exhibitions in Paris. Of course, I had to start with a fashion one so off I went to the Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs exhibition at Les Arts Decoratifs. As expected, I found myself more drawn to the first half of the exhibition which explores the innovation of luggage-maker Mr Louis Vuitton himself. This was a fascinating history and design lesson and showed great exhibits like the original ‘Never Full’ bag (below) and the trunk that turns in a bed. My first men’s Paris Fashion Week was a wheeze of shows, presentations, exhibitions, parties and a tiny bit of shopping. Plus lots of people-watching outside cafes, drinking coffee and wafting pretend cigarettes. I haven’t been on a horse since a school trip to Mr Puddy’s farm in 1986 but I’m quietly lusting after Gucci’s Cruise 2013 equestrian collection. The 15-piece capsule collection includes performance-grade jodhpurs, polos and riding jacket, plus a horse blanket, nappa gloves, whip-printed foulard scarf and the poshest riding cap ever… (more…)
