Tom Ford is a funny brand. I can totally leave the RTW (and truthfully I didn’t much care for Tom Ford at Gucci) but the beauty is a whole different beast. Have you been to the store in Sloane Street yet? You must. It’s a properly luxurious experience where you’ll get fussed and fawned over even if you’re just spritzing a tester. And if you’re going to buy one of Ford’s not-cheap fragrances, then this is the place to go for the full, added-value experience. (more…)

Men’s grooming roundup: Stefano Tonchi, Tom Ford, Acqua Di Parma, Shay & Blue, Mr Porter

STEFANO TONCHI ON INTO THE GLOSS
Stefano-Tonchi

Oh my nosiness knows no bounds. I love Into The Gloss for its snoops into the bathroom cabinets of fashiony women and now it’s been sniffing around the men’s grooming shelves too. Here’s W magazine’s Stefano Tonchi’s thoughts on his grooming routine (Hmmm, Only 6 products but still)… (more…)

Marketing the modern muse

At the press launch of Modern Muse back in May, it was made clear that this was a major launch. The biggest Estee Lauder fragrance launch for ten years in fact. And boy, have they promoted it. I’ve been to a launch, a dinner (when I sat next to master perfumer Harry Fremont himself – what a sweetheart), there’s been the ad campaign with Arizona Muse, a Facebook app to celebrate your own muse, and now a short film.

The film, by Steven Sebring is a gentle portrait of Arizona Muse, talking about her life in London, New York and Massachusetts. I love how it’s shot and how intimate and personal it feels (don’t miss the Super-8 moment at the end). (more…)

Buy it now: Three colours red

MAKE-Maraschino-cherry-Disneyrollergirl

Here are three killer red lipsticks I’ve been trialling that I can recommend if you love strong Hollywood reds in posh packaging…

First is Rouge Néon (shade 50) from Yves saint Laurent’s Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre line (below, £25). This is a lush vermillion red that has an extremely flattering finish thanks to the addition of yellow, white and pink gold pearls. It’s definitely not pearlised though; the effect is more a subtle ‘lit from within’ radiance that is YSL’s DNA. Obviously, the gold casing is as fabulous as the lipstick inside, I never get bored with it. Buy it here and here
