Positive beauty: Costa Brazil by Francisco Costa

Costa Brazil Francisco Costa sustainable beauty brand

I’m liking the sound of Costa Brazil, the new sustainable beauty brand by – who’d have guessed? – Francisco Costa.

If you remember, he was ousted as women’s creative director of Calvin Klein to make way for Raf, but this art-meets-beauty concept (partly inspired by artist Piero Manzoni) has apparently been on his mind for a while. “The last three years at Calvin were nothing but brutal. I felt liberated to do something new, and I already had this in mind. It switched the energy positively,” he told Vogue.com.

Core to Costa Brazil is a super-ingredient, Breu, a sweet-smelling resin that comes from the Almacega tree (more…)

Lips like Giedre: La Bouche Rouge

La Bouche Rouge Paris Giedre Dukauskaite

No make-up make-up and a red lip. I’m pretty sure I’ve gone on about it enough but in essence, it’s the  look that Giedre Dukauskaite nails in the pic above. Good skin helps, but if that’s lacking, then a good foundation (applied sans trowel) is the next best thing. Maiyet Collective pop-up Juta shoes

It’s quite the insidery affair, hidden on the first floor of a new private members’ club with little chance of passing trade, plus it’s only open three days a month. But what a fabulous surprise when you venture inside. (more…)

Topshop Boutique 2018

TOPSHOP REJUVENATES BOUTIQUE

Topshop wants to put its premium Boutique line back on the shopping agenda for a new generation of customers that are probably more grown-up and discerning than the retail brand has been talking to in recent years. Boutique is now about a point of difference, global design director Anthony Cuthbertson told the Evening Standard: ‘We are creating perfect wardrobe staples for the contemporary woman,’ he says, adding that the brand will offer investment pieces that are built to last.
