Menswear AW14 edit: fantasy shopping for Mr DRG

It’s new-season new-in time at Mr Porter, so I couldn’t resist doing a little fantasy shopping for Mr DRG. There’s no question that I have to include a little Saint Laurent and Paul Smith in my edit, they both consistently deliver on cut, colour and print (this geometric pocket square is just jazzy enough in its muted colour palette). Sunspel‘s basics are another easy inclusion, you can’t get more classic than its loopback sweats in old-school navy. Sachajuan is a Swedish haircare line and I will confess it’s the packaging that’s speaking to me here. And for an understated sneaker that’s a step up from a Stan Smith, there’s no arguing with the grey suede Original Achilles from Common Projects

There was definitely a pent-up demand for it,” co-founder Byron Peart told Style.com. (more…)

BRAND NEW SMELLIES: JO MALONE LONDON, SHAY AND BLUE, AESOP

Jo-Malone-Wood-Sage-Sea-Salt

I’m literally drowning under new fragrance samples right now, but I’ve narrowed down my current three favourites that are launching this autumn. They’re all very different and I do admit to being swayed as much by the branding as the scent in some cases…

JO MALONE LONDON WOOD SAGE AND SEA SALT

Jo-Malone-Wood-Sage-Sea-Salt 2

Like Burberry, Jo Malone London is very good at evoking that traditional romantic, slightly windswept Brit imagery. (more…)

Buy it now: Barrie and Simone Rocha AW14

Simone-Rocha-Aw14

The buy at Browns for AW14 is outstanding this year and it’s all up online now. My highlights are what looks like the entire Simone Rocha collection (above – how much python print!) and an exclusive selection of the new Barrie line (recently acquired by Chanel, and now designed by Odile Massuger). They actually go rather beautifully together…
